Bio

Tim Jones is an accomplished pianist, currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Piano Performance at the University of Texas at Austin. Hailing from North Carolina, Tim’s love for piano began at the tender age of six, and since then, it has evolved into a profound passion that marries technique with expressive artistry.

Tim’s journey into music commenced under the guidance of Brenda Bruce and has taken him to renowned institutions where he has studied with luminary figures in the world of classical piano. After achieving a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Tim further honed his craft with a Master’s at the University of Texas at Austin, where he explored the intricacies of J.S. Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1 and the music of Frédéric Chopin.

Performance lies at the heart of Tim’s musical endeavors. Over the years, he has graced the stages in both solo and collaborative capacities across Europe and North America. Some notable venues include Lincoln Center, The Academy of Music in Krakow, and The Juilliard School.

Having participated in masterclasses with Richard Goode, Boris Berman, and Leon Fleisher, Tim continues to be a sponge for knowledge, absorbing diverse interpretations and techniques. These interactions, coupled with his rigorous academic endeavors, have equipped Tim with a rich tapestry of musical insights which he eagerly shares in both performance and teaching settings.

Outside of performance and teaching, Tim has a keen interest in musicology, particularly the evolution of piano compositions during the 19th century. When not seated at the piano, he enjoys hiking, discussing the news, and exploring jazz improvisation.

As Tim ventures further into the world of music through his DMA studies, he is poised to leave an indelible mark on the musical landscape, intertwining tradition with a fresh, modern sensibility.
